Like the last year, in Papaflessia 2008, European Indoor champion Dwain Chambers won both the race of 100m and 200 m (in 10.06(+0.3) and 200m in 20.58 (+0.6)) ahead of hiw major Scandinavian rivals Johan Wissman (20.67) and Jaisuma Saidy Ndure (20.67). Chambers achieved a new meeting record in 100 m (the previous was 10.08 performed by Deji Aliu in 2005).

In men’s long jump, the South African world indoor champion Godfrey Khotso Mokoena won the first place with an excellent jump of 8.33 (+0.9) while Algerian Issam Nima finished second with 8.00 (+0.6).

Impressive performances were registered in the Javelin throw as the Polish Olympian Urszula Piwnicka won the women's title with a personal best performance 63.53 (also another meeting record). In men’s event, the first place was won by Russian IIya Korotkov with a throw of 80.80.

European Triple Jump bronze medallist Anna Pyatykh of Russia won the women's Triple Jump with an easy jump of 14.37. Marina Aitova ofKazakhstan managed to jump at 1.94m to win the women's High Jump title, while the Bulgarian Venelina Veneva finished second with a jump of 191.
