Great performances from Luis Tsatoumas, Liliana Po

There was an expected home victory for Greek Long Jump Champion Luis Tsatoumas who set a World leading performance of 8.66m at the European Athletics Permit Meeting in Kalamata last year. Tsatoumas who competed his birth town Kalamata, had a strong opponent: the wind. Nevertheless, he managed a mark of 8.16m, winning in that way the competition.



The Romania's champion Liliana Popescu won the race of 1500m. The current World leader (4:00.35) just missed a new season's best as she sprinted down the home straight to finish in 4:00.36. That performance is a new stadium record. In the second place were Anna Alminova from Russia with 4:03.44 and Cristina Vasiloiu (ROU) with 4:04.12 finished third with.



Marina Aitova from Kazakhstan was the winner at women's High Jump. She achieved a mark of 1.95m. Antonia Stergiou and Maria Papageorgiou were placed second and third. In men¢s High Jump Andra Manson from Canada won the competition with 2.27m. Dragutin Topic (SRB), Yuriy Krymarenko (UKR) and Yaroslav Baba (CZE) attained the same mark.



In the women's 800m Tatyana Andrianova (RUS) clocked 1:59.54, finishing 0.95 seconds ahead of Zoya Nesterenko from Ukraine (2:00.49). In men's 400m Hurdles Aleksander Dereviag ran the distance in 49.90. Minas Alozidis who represented Cyprus came second (50.13).



In the men's Triple Jump, Aleksander Petrenko from Russia attained 16.85m, beating the Ukrainians Mykola Savolainen (16.73m) and Victor Yasterbov (16.57m).
In the women's Triple Jump the Slovenian Marija Sestak jumped 14.68m beating her rivals Olha Saladukha (UKR-14.62m) and Biljana Topic (SRB-14.22m).



Dwain Chambers won the race of 100m in 10.25 while Mardy Scales was placed first in 200m with 20.89. In women¢s sprints, Angela Williams from USA came first with 11.23.
