Papaflessia Organising Committee officials organised a ceremony in order to honor a legent of international sports for her incredible accomplishments: the Polish champion of athletics Irena Szewinska.

Szewinska is considered as the greatest all time athletics female athlete. She took part in 5 Olympic Games winning 7 medals in various events such as 100, 200, 400, 4x100m and long jump. She set 6 times the world record and she also won 13 medals in European Championships. Szewinska gathered 26 times the title of the champion in her country.

Today, Szewinska, possesses significant positions in International Sport Organisations like I.O.C., I.A.A.F and the Polish Athletics Federation.
