The Arrival of the Sacred Flame consists a significant part of "Papaflessia's" Opening Ceremony. The ritual of the Sacred Flame also includes the touch of the Flame and the Torch Relay. The touch of the Sacred Flame takes place in Maniaki, the location in which Papaflessas was killed during a battle. The Sacred Flame is carried by car at the surrounding area of Municipal Stadium of Kalamata. Then, a torch bearer carries the Flame into the Stadium in order to give the signal for the beginning of the competition.
